SuperCmd 2.0.0

New Features

Liquid Glass

• Window Style in Settings → General → Appearance picks Frosted or Liquid Glass, the native macOS 26 material Spotlight uses. Frosted stays the default.
• A Transparency slider fades Liquid Glass from the regular material to clear glass with the wallpaper showing through.
• On macOS 27 the slider works on top of the system-wide transparency, adding to that base rather than replacing it.
• Background Tint applies to both styles, and each remembers its own value.
• The bottom islands, the ⌘K menu, the widget tiles and the note window's formatting bar draw on the same glass, so they follow the chosen style and tint.

Pick Your Launcher Font

• Settings → General → Appearance → Font renders the launcher in any installed font family, or System Default. The choice is per Mac. Families with only Regular and Bold, such as Menlo, no longer render the whole panel bold.

Improved Winodw Switcher

• Tiles are ordered by most recent use, so one tap goes back to the window you just left, even a full-screen window on another Space.
• ⌘Tab and ⌘⇧Tab can be recorded as the switcher's hotkey. The system app switcher gets its chord back on quit, and after a crash.
• Previews are kept between opens, so the grid shows real thumbnails the moment it appears. The cache is capped at 16 MiB.
• Each tile shows its app's icon, and the selected tile has a near-white border instead of a blue one that vanished over blue windows.
• The grid is sized for the screen it opens on, rows are centred, and closing windows from the switcher (X, ⌫, ⌘W) shrinks the panel to fit.
• Browser hover cards and other helper windows no longer show up as tiles with Show windows from all Desktops on.
• The switcher follows Window Style, Background Tint and Transparency, with more room around the grid and rounded corners. Closing a window no longer lags.

Improved Screenshot tool

• The history now shows every image in your Screenshot Folder, newest first, up to 300, including ⇧⌘3 and ⇧⌘4 captures. Imported images are searchable by their text and open in the annotation editor.
• SuperCmd never writes, moves or deletes an image it did not create. Deleting an imported row leaves the file in place; a file that leaves the folder takes its row with it.
• ↩ or a double-click previews a screenshot in Quick Look; ⌘Y does the same from ⌘K.
• Reveal in Finder shows the real file. Done or ⌘S overwrites an imported file in place; Discard leaves it untouched.

Check for Updates: Extensions Store

• Update Extension re-downloads an installed extension from the Store's ⌘K menu, the launcher's ⌘K menu or a ↻ button in Settings → Extensions. Preferences, aliases, pins, hotkeys, menu-bar items and sign-ins survive.
• Typing an extension or script command's alias and pressing Space enters its argument fill, like a quicklink.
• ↩ on an extension command with arguments puts the caret in the first empty pill; a second ↩ runs it once every required pill is filled.

Aliases for Script Commands

• Script Commands can carry a launcher alias, with the same alias pill in Settings → Scripts as apps, commands, quicklinks and extensions.

Dictation: Chimes, Output Choice and More Hold Keys

• Output in Settings → Dictation → Behavior chooses where the transcript goes: Paste to active app, Copy to clipboard, or Paste and copy.
• A chime plays when the microphone goes live and when the session ends. Pick None, Bubble, Octave or Marimba under Behavior → Sound.
• The hold-to-talk key can be F1 to F17 or a left-side ⌘, ⌥, ⌃ or ⇧, in addition to Fn and the right-side modifiers. A held function key never reaches the app you are dictating into.

Search Files: Spotlight Index, Open With and Share

• Use Spotlight Index in Settings → File Search builds the index from Spotlight instead of a folder scan. Index Stats shows which source is in use. Per Mac.
• Rows show the bare file name; the folder path appears only when two results share a name.
• Open With… in ⌘K is a nested list of apps: the default handler, every app registered for the file, and Other….
• Share… in ⌘K lists the system share services, such as AirDrop, Messages and Notes, for file rows in Search Files, the launcher and Clipboard History.

Clipboard History Previews Files and Reads Pictures

• A copied file is previewed in the detail pane: a thumbnail for images, PDFs and movies, the text for text files, the icon otherwise. ⌘Y opens it in Quick Look.
• Copy Text (⌘⌥C) and text recognition now cover pictures copied from Finder, not only screenshots, so their text is searchable. A picture iCloud has not downloaded is refused with a message instead of stalling the app.
• Pasting or copying an entry moves it to the top without adding a duplicate. Pinned entries stay put.

Quicklinks You Can Drag Out as Files

• A quicklink whose link is a file path can be dragged out of the panel as a file, from its launcher row or Search Quicklinks.
• Typing a quicklink's alias and pressing Space puts the caret in its first argument pill. Space never opens the link.
• New Quicklink and the pencil button in Settings → Quicklinks open the in-panel editor.

Show or Hide Notes With HotKey

• Show/Hide Notes is a new command that hides every floating note window or brings them back, with a hotkey row in Settings → Notes. With no note open it opens the most recently edited one.
• The note window has a resize grip, text dissolves under the title bar as it scrolls, and the scroller sits flush with the edge.
• Lists behave in the editor: numbered markers take the accent colour, Tab nests an item as a fresh list from 1, Return on an empty nested item steps back out, and a typed starting number such as 5. is kept.

A Settings Pane for Snippets

• Settings → Snippets is new, with an Enable Snippets switch, an expansion sound (None or any macOS alert sound) and hotkey rows for Search Snippets and Create Snippet.

Escape Key Behaviour, Nested ⌘K Menus and More

• Escape Key Behavior in Settings → Launcher decides what Escape does. The new default steps back one level per press, like ⌫ in an empty field, and closes only from the root. The old one-press close is still available.
• Escape Key Closes Window decides whether Escape closes Settings, AI Chat and note windows.
• The search bar floats over every mode, and content dissolves under it as it scrolls.
• The ⌘K menu opens nested levels in place: ↩ or → enters, ← or ⌫ on an empty filter returns, Escape steps out one level.
• Define Word suggests the nearest words for a misspelling: "recieve" offers "receive", ↑ ↓ to choose, ↩ to look up.
• The calculator names currencies: "1 usd to inr" shows US Dollar and Indian Rupee under the result.
• The compact launcher grows in the same frame as the first keystroke, with no flash of the full chrome.
• The Memory widget matches Activity Monitor's Memory Used.

Uninstall Anything, Even Root-Owned Apps

• The Uninstaller opens instantly and finds related files in the background. Items you cannot move yourself, such as a root-owned App Store app, go to the Trash after a Touch ID or password prompt instead of failing. Such rows carry a lock badge.

Improvements

Launcher Polish

• Widget tiles are lighter cards with a soft hairline, the stray divider under the strip is gone, and the results fade ends at the panel's true bottom edge.
• Reset Launcher Position centers the panel between the menu bar and the Dock instead of 80 pt above center.
• Dead-key and IME compositions () survive in the search field. A slow accent, or a Pinyin or Japanese candidate, is no longer dropped while the launcher re-renders.
• When a ⌘K menu closes, the caret returns to the search field in every mode.
• Lists never show the thick legacy scroll bar when Show scroll bars is set to Always.
• The notes preview scrolls to the bottom edge and fades under the action bar instead of a hard clip.

Translate

• The arrow between the panes is a plain hint rather than a button, and the input editor hides its scroll bar.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed the 1.0.9 crash on Macs that never loaded a local AI model. The GPU cache was cleared before any model existed.
• App discovery no longer re-runs every 2 to 64 seconds because of a system bundle without an Info.plist. Idle memory on an affected Mac dropped from about 295 MB to about 91 MB.
• The window switcher appears on every desktop. It could open on one Space and draw nothing on the others.
• The footer's primary pill (Open ↩, Paste ↩) responds to clicks in every mode, not only in the launcher.
• The eyedropper reads the exact color on screen. It went through the wrong color profile before, so greys came back lighter and reds shifted toward orange, and on Retina displays each loupe cell blended four pixels.
• The color picker works on every display.
• Grok chat no longer breaks when the service raises its minimum client version. SuperCmd adopts the new floor and retries on the next message, with no update needed.
• Sidebar icons fit their tiles whatever the symbol's shape.
• QR Code Scanner extension fix: legacy text encodings decode, and the command returns to the launcher when done.

SuperCmd Beta 2.0.0-beta

The first beta of SuperCmd 2.0. It installs as SuperCmd Beta next to the stable app, with its own settings, clipboard and notes database, extensions, file index and update feed, so your stable install stays untouched. Everything merged since 1.0.9 is in this build. Run one channel at a time for global hotkeys, the Hyper Key and browser sign-in. Apple silicon only, like the stable app.

New Features

Window Switcher

• Tiles are ordered by the window you used most recently, so one tap of the hotkey goes back to the window you just left, even a full-screen window on another Space. Windows you have never focused follow in the system's order.
• ⌘Tab and ⌘⇧Tab can now be recorded as the switcher's hotkey. SuperCmd releases the system app switcher's chord while it holds it and hands it back on quit, and after a crash, so the system switcher is never left dead.
• Previews are kept between opens, so the grid paints with real thumbnails the moment it appears instead of trickling in over app icons. The cache is bounded at 16 MiB.
• Each tile shows the owning app's icon in the bottom-right corner of the preview. The selected tile has a near-white border and a lifted card instead of the accent blue that vanished over blue windows.
• The grid is sized for the screen it opens on, so a second monitor with a different width no longer gets a grid wider than the panel. Closing windows from inside the switcher (X, ⌫, ⌘W) shrinks the panel to fit.
• Opening from an empty Desktop, or after clicking the desktop, selects the window you just left instead of skipping past it.
• Browser tab hover cards, hidden title strips and other helper windows no longer appear as tiles with Show windows from all Desktops on.
• The switcher draws on the same backdrop as the launcher and follows Window Style, Background Tint and Transparency, with more room around the grid and properly rounded corners.
• Closing a window from the switcher no longer lags.

Appearance

• Settings → General → Appearance → Window Style chooses between Frosted, the existing blur, and Liquid Glass, the native macOS 26 material drawn the way Spotlight draws its panel. The picker appears on macOS 26 and later. Frosted stays the default.
• A Transparency slider for Liquid Glass fades from the regular material to a clear one with the wallpaper showing through, keeping the refraction at every setting.
• Background Tint now applies to both styles, and each style remembers its own value.
• The bottom islands (the ⌘ circle, the mode label, the hint pill, the Open ↩ / Actions ⌘K capsule and the note window's formatting bar), the ⌘K menu and the widget tiles draw on the shared glass, so they follow the chosen style and tint instead of staying frosted.
• Light mode rendering fixes for Liquid Glass.

• Added Create Command for Custom Window Size: save your own window position and size, as a fraction of the screen or in points, anchored to any of nine spots, with a live preview of the display. It gets a launcher row, an alias, a hotkey, and a deep link like any other command.
• Added Create Layout for Custom Window Layout: arrange several apps' windows across your displays and restore them with one command. A layout can open apps that aren't running, pass each one a file, URL, quicklink, or arguments, and minimize or close the other windows.
• Added Save Current Layout, which captures the windows on screen and snaps their edges to the screen, the usual fractions, and each other.
• Custom commands and layouts can be edited, duplicated, exported, and imported as JSON, and they sync to your other Macs.

Clipboard

• Added an Enable Clipboard History switch at the top of Settings → Clipboard History. Off means SuperCmd stops reading the clipboard entirely. Saved history is kept.
• The Edit overlay is a glass card with Cancel (Esc), Save (⌘S), and Save & Paste (⌘↩), and puts the caret in the text immediately.
• The Source row shows the real icon of the app a clip came from.

Hyper Key

• Added Include Shift, on by default. Off, the Hyper Key sends ⌃⌥⌘ and leaves Hyper + Shift free as its own layer. Existing shortcuts keep the exact chord they were recorded with.

Auto Quit

• Added application exclusions: keep All Applications selected and exclude the apps that should never be quit, such as Stickies. Exclusions win in both scopes and sync to your other Macs.
• The Auto Quit card holds a single app list that follows Apply To: the apps to keep open under All Applications, or the apps to quit under Only Selected.
• The list uses a searchable app picker, which includes running apps outside your usual app folders.

Screenshots

• ⌘S saves the annotated capture straight to your screenshot folder, or the Desktop when none is set, and closes the editor. The old ⇧⌘S save collided with the Read Aloud hotkey and never fired.

Dictation

• OpenRouter transcription adds MAI-Transcribe 2 and Deepgram Nova-3.

Improvements

AI

• Reply text in AI Chat and Quick AI can be selected across paragraphs, lists, and tables.
• Copying a reply gives plain text, without Markdown symbols. Copied tables keep their columns and copied code keeps its tabs.
• Images in a reply render as images. <br> in a table cell is a line break.
• Typing or pasting while reply text is selected goes to the message box.

Launcher

• Running a command starts the next open at an empty search. Dismissing with Esc, a click outside, or the hotkey still brings back your query.
• Every list scrolls back to the top when you type: clipboard, snippets, quicklinks, notes, schedule, files, screenshots, contacts, menu items, the extension store, and the emoji picker.
• App names follow your Mac's language even when SuperCmd's interface does not have it, so a Polish Mac finds "Kalendarz". The English name still matches.

Notes

• Pasting a clipboard entry, emoji, or snippet from the launcher lands in the app you came from, or in the note you opened the launcher from.
• Text scrolls under the formatting bar, and typing past the bottom keeps the caret in view.

Search Contacts

• ⌘C copies the phone number, like ⌘C in the other lists.

Emoji

• ↑ and ↓ keep your column when moving between sections, and no longer bounce back into Recently Used.

Hyper Key

• The Caps Lock remap now works on keyboards that expose more than one keyboard device

Bug Fixes

• Fixed the most common crash on 1.0.8, which could take down the app hours after an unrelated error in a text view.
• The launcher and note windows can be dragged again on macOS 27.

• Bullets, numbers, checkboxes, and quote bars use your accent color, code blocks are rounded, and numbering restarts after a blank line.
• Note windows always stay on top, so the pin button is gone.

Clipboard

• Added an Enable Clipboard History switch at the top of Settings → Clipboard History. Off means SuperCmd stops reading the clipboard entirely. Saved history is kept.
• The Edit overlay is a glass card with Cancel (Esc), Save (⌘S), and Save & Paste (⌘↩), and puts the caret in the text immediately.
• The Source row shows the real icon of the app a clip came from.

Hyper Key

• Added Include Shift, on by default. Off, the Hyper Key sends ⌃⌥⌘ and leaves Hyper + Shift free as its own layer. Existing shortcuts keep the exact chord they were recorded with.

Auto Quit

• Added application exclusions: keep All Applications selected and exclude the apps that should never be quit, such as Stickies. Exclusions win in both scopes and sync to your other Macs.

Screenshots

• ⌘S saves the annotated capture straight to your screenshot folder, or the Desktop when none is set, and closes the editor. The old ⇧⌘S save collided with the Read Aloud hotkey and never fired.

AI

• Reply text in AI Chat and Quick AI can be selected across paragraphs, lists, and tables.
• Copying a reply gives plain text, without Markdown symbols. Copied tables keep their columns and copied code keeps its tabs.
• Images in a reply render as images. <br> in a table cell is a line break.

Launcher

• Running a command starts the next open at an empty search. Dismissing with Esc, a click outside, or the hotkey still brings back your query.

• Pasting a clipboard entry, emoji, or snippet from the launcher lands in the app you came from, or in the note you opened the launcher from.

AI

• Web search works with every provider. Models without reliable tool calling, Apple Intelligence included, use app-managed retrieval, and a search that fails says so.
• Sources are a compact control with site favicons, a count, and clickable rows.

• Tab on an empty launcher opens a blank Quick AI draft, which can hand off to the chat window.

Calendar / My Schedule

• SuperCmd now watches your calendar with the panel closed, so a card can appear before a meeting starts, offering Join, Copy Link, and dismiss.
• Reminders ship on, 10 minutes and 1 minute ahead. Either lead time can be changed, set to At start, or switched off.
• Auto-Join opens the link for you. Off by default, and can ask first with a ten-second countdown. It never joins a call you already missed.
• Added Join Next Meeting, which joins the meeting already under way if there is one — which is when you actually press it.
• An opt-in menu-bar item counts down to your next meeting, with Join Meeting, Open in Calendar, My Schedule, and Calendar Settings.

Extensions

• Development extensions: point SuperCmd at a folder of Raycast-style source and run it without Raycast, Node, or npm. It installs the dependencies, builds, and rebuilds on save.
• Extensions are opted in one at a time, so a clone of raycast/extensions adds no launcher rows until you pick one. Each row shows its build state, Retry, and Reveal in Finder.
• Build output lands outside your folder, and switching an extension off never touches your source.
• Added Import Extension, which picks a folder and lands on the Extensions pane.
• Installed extensions and individual commands can be switched off in Settings → Extensions. Off means gone — no row, alias, pin, hotkey, deep link, menu-bar item, or AI tool — while preferences and sign-ins survive. The choice syncs to your other Macs.

Window Management

• Added Window Gap (None, 8, 12, 24, 32, 48, 64 px), the room left between two tiled windows. Screen edges stay flush and thirds stay equal.
• Added Center Two Thirds (⌃⌥⇧E), the centered column missing between Center Half and Almost Maximize.
• Added Minimize Window. It ships unbound.
• Added Zoom, which performs the app's own zoom like the green button, and Fill now reproduces macOS's Fill, margins included, instead of being a second Maximize.
• Move to Next/Previous Space carries the window by pressing its title bar, so it works on real apps rather than only a bare AppKit window. A fullscreen window is refused with a reason.
• Move to Next/Previous Display now works on a fullscreen window.
• The ⌥Tab Window Switcher is now a setting, default off. A separate option includes windows from every Desktop and switches Desktop when you pick one.
• Every window action has its own switch in Settings → Window Management, so you can keep the feature and drop the actions you never use. A switched-off action leaves the launcher and releases its shortcut for other apps.

Keyboard

• Escape can be part of a global hotkey, so ⌃ESC records and binds. A bare Escape still cancels recording.
• Added Auto-switch Input Source: a layout installed while SuperCmd is open and handed back when it closes, so English commands typed with a CJK or Vietnamese input method no longer vanish into a composition buffer. Automatic follows your current source, or pick a layout.
• It applies in every panel mode, and keeps applying inside floating note windows.
• Added Settings → Keyboard, collecting Navigation Bindings, Auto-switch Input Source, and the Hyper Key.

Clipboard

• Return's action is now a choice: Settings → Clipboard History → Actions, Paste to Active App or Copy to Clipboard. The two trade keys, so neither is left unbound, and the footer pill and ⌘1…⌘9 follow.

Launcher

• Every shortcut a ⌘K row shows now fires from the highlighted row without opening the menu. ⌘C on a history row, ⇧⌘R on a clipboard file, ⌘D on a note or snippet and ⇧⌘I on a screenshot did nothing at all before.
• Quit App, Restart App, Force Quit, and Disable App no longer need ⌘K pressed first.
• Escape resets the panel to the empty launcher before closing, even from a command's own hotkey.
• Backspace in an empty search field goes back within the flow instead of closing the panel.
• Argument pills follow the caret instead of parking mid-bar, and Escape keeps the pills and whatever you typed into them.
• Added Search Scopes to Settings → Applications: every folder searched for apps, with a "+" for your own. Folders not on this Mac are marked, not dropped.
• The built-in list grows from five folders to twelve — ~/Applications, both cryptexes, both PreferencePanes folders, System Settings' plug-ins — so third-party preference panes and the About and Software Update panels are searchable.

Screenshots

• Added a save location under Settings → Screenshots: every capture auto-saved as a timestamped PNG and overwritten with your annotations.

Performance

• Typing in the launcher is no longer blocked by the file index. The same-frame scan is measured against your own index and taken only when it fits in a frame — it had cost about 17 ms per keystroke in release builds and two seconds in debug ones.
• Idle memory is bounded: Settings releases its view tree on close, local model containers expire after 90 seconds, browser history and icon caches drop under pressure, camera resources wait for first use, clipboard pages load on demand, and AI Chat releases its hierarchy.
• Extension hosts retain less and exit cleanly, with bounded action retention, a bundle cache, scoped timers, an orphan sweep, and one shutdown deadline for every host.

Settings

• Pane content dissolves under the window title instead of scrolling straight through it.
• The sidebar has a neutral selection, responds on the first keypress, and continues navigation from the item you are on.
• Every list row's on/off is one small checkbox at the end of the row, the same across Applications, Commands, Window Management, Apple Shortcuts, Extensions, and extension commands.
• Commands folds into Built-in, System, and System Settings cards that open on demand, and Search Scopes is the same kind of card, with Add Folder in its header. A closed card costs nothing.

Hyper Key

• Grok gained a reasoning effort setting, in Settings → AI and in the chat window. It defaults to Automatic, which sends nothing and leaves the model's own behaviour unchanged.
• Chat shows the model's thinking as a collapsible Thought process section above the answer, for Grok, ChatGPT, and OpenRouter models that report it.
• Images can be pasted straight into the AI Chat composer.

• Drags out of the launcher into web composers now land. A synthetic paste no longer leaves Command held down system-wide, which had been turning every drag on the machine into a move.

Settings

• Settings search now finds individual rows, including commands, applications, window actions, quicklinks, Apple Shortcuts, and extension commands, rather than only tabs and section headings.

Crash Reporting

• Crash reports now record which binary they came from, so a report can be paired with the symbols that decode its stack, and a release built without those symbols is rejected instead of shipping.

Bug Fixes

Crashes

• Fixed the app being killed whenever text recognition failed on a copied image. Copying a one pixel tracking image from a web page was enough to trigger it.
• Fixed the crash that ended every dictation session using Parakeet.

System Actions

• Fixed Lock Screen only putting the display to sleep and leaving the session unlocked. It now locks immediately, and says so when it cannot.

Keyboard

• Fixed Hyper Key chords also toggling Caps Lock when Quick Press is set to Toggles Caps Lock.
• Fixed ⌘Q quitting SuperCmd instead of the application you were looking at. Quit is still available from the menus and as a launcher command, without a keyboard shortcut.

Quicklinks

• Fixed pressing Return on a quicklink with arguments leaving the panel with nothing focused, so typing went nowhere and the screen could only be left backwards.
• Arguments now fill in place instead of on a separate screen, the pills stay visible, and ← and → walk between the search field and each argument.

Dictation

• Fixed Mistral transcription failing with an invalid model error for anyone who had selected Voxtral Small. That model is not served by the transcription endpoint, so it is no longer offered and existing selections fall back to a working one.

• The launcher now opens on the screen you are working on instead of always appearing on the display it was last used on.
• The panel now stays pinned to its top edge while its content grows and shrinks, instead of jumping around the screen.

Launcher

• Search results hold still as you type. Commands you use constantly stayed on top for the first letter, then dropped below apps you'd never opened as you typed more of the name. Ranking was rebuilt so a result only moves when the kind of match actually changes, and your most-used commands keep the top of their group the whole way through a query.
• Escape goes back, not away. Opening a command by its own shortcut and pressing Escape used to dismiss SuperCmd entirely, while reaching the same screen by typing its name went back to the launcher. Escape now always steps back one level; press it again from the launcher to close.
• ⌘-number hints only appear after a deliberate hold, so they stop flickering during normal use.

Notes

• Code blocks render as a single rounded slab across the full width, and the fence markers disappear once you leave the line. Inline code no longer leaves a stray block on the line above.
• Typing [] creates a real checkbox you can click to tick, with a visible checkmark.
• ⌘W closes notes.

Extensions

• SVG icons render. Extensions built around vector artwork showed blank tiles.
• Action menus are complete. Keyboard shortcuts declared per-platform were being dropped, so some ⌘K menus showed none at all. Menus now also group into sections and show real artwork, and built-in icon coverage went from 39% to 86%.
• Extensions that hung on launch now work. Commands pulling in a missing package sat at 100% CPU until they timed out.
• Big list commands stay responsive. One popular extension climbed to roughly 490 MB and froze the panel for four seconds; that workload now costs no measurable time or memory.
• Commands whose arguments are all optional open on a single Enter instead of two.
• Menu bar extras open their menu on left-click, show item icons, honour tint colours, and refresh live.
• Toast notifications posted by extensions have working actions.

Window switcher

• Previews are captured together rather than trickling in one at a time, and each cell holds its full size before its preview arrives, so the grid no longer resizes under the pointer.

• Switching tabs no longer leaves the previous pane on screen.

Dictation

• Speech Analyzer can no longer be selected while Apple Intelligence is off. The card explains why and offers a button straight to the right System Settings pane.
