Window management

Last reviewed 17 October 2026

SuperCmd includes a full keyboard window manager, so you do not need Rectangle, Magnet or Raycast's window commands alongside it. It tiles the focused window to halves, thirds, two-thirds and quarters, fills, zooms, maximises, centres and resizes, moves windows between displays and Spaces, and lets you build custom layouts that arrange several apps at once. A Windows-style Alt-Tab switcher shows every window and closes one with Backspace.

Custom commands and layouts

Create Command records a window position and size you choose and turns it into a command with its own hotkey. Create Layout captures several windows at once, so one hotkey can put your editor, terminal and browser exactly where you want them on every display.

Window Gap

A Window Gap setting of 8 to 64 points leaves space between two tiled windows. Screen edges stay flush, so a tiled pair still spans the display and Maximise is unaffected.

Alt-Tab switcher

  • A visual switcher that cycles through windows, not just apps, the way Windows does.
  • Backspace closes the highlighted window without leaving the switcher.
  • Works with double-tap hotkeys and the Hyper key, so you can bind it to Caps Lock.

Frequently asked questions

Does SuperCmd replace Rectangle or Magnet?

For most people, yes. SuperCmd covers halves, thirds, quarters, fills, display moves, Spaces, gaps and custom layouts with keyboard shortcuts. It does not add drag-to-edge snapping.

Can SuperCmd move a window to another Space or display?

Yes. There are commands to move the focused window to the next or previous display and to the next or previous Space, and to switch focus between displays.

Does SuperCmd have an Alt-Tab switcher like Windows?

Yes. The switcher shows individual windows, cycles with Tab, and closes the selected window with Backspace.
